Cartoon Carpenter

Flipping through an old magazine to find something to sketch as a warm-up, I came across this carpenter. So I sketched him out as realistically as possible. Then I decided to re-draw him in a more simplified cartoon version. I was happy with the outcome and decided to ink & color it. This didn't take me too long and was a fun exercise.

IF - Fearless

This is a warm-up sketch I did yesterday before starting to draw for a client. I thought she looked a little fearless so I thought I'd use this for my Illustration Friday entry this week.

Warm-Ups

Another very quick drawing. This is today's warm-up drawing. Nothing special, just thought I'd share.

IF - Clandestine

For all of you "Wicked the Musical" fans, here is a quick sketch of Glinda the Good Witch singing "Popular". I had Kristen Chenoweth in mind for the face. She originated the roll. The song has the word "clandestine" in it for those who may be confused as to why I chose this for IF. I want to ink & color it but I don't have time this week. I'm sure I'll finish it some day.

Stuff I Sketched Yesterday

Here are some sketches. I was snacking on nuts. Then, I drew this bee off of the deck of cards I was playing with. The one with the crab looks weird because I sketched it from a toy crab. It's one of those that you put in water and it grows. And last but not least, my dog, Madison. She was looking so cute on "pride couch". It's her little "pride rock" from Lion King.

Toy Gun

Since my blog is too new I felt the need to publish another post. This isn't today's sketch, rather a sketch I did in February. It's my nephew's toy gun. My niece and I were on the floor drawing and he was running around shooting at us with the other guns he has.

First Blog

Although I have a web portfolio, I wanted a place to put some quick daily sketches. I'm hoping this will keep the pencil in my hand when I have "drawer's block". So, here it goes. My first sketch of my new blog! I love pencil on paper. I need to start using darker lead because sometimes my hand hurts from pushing so hard.
